Part of the last functioning hospital in Gaza City was destroyed in an airstrike by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). This was announced on April 13 by the BBC Corporation.

According to eyewitnesses, intensive care units and surgeons at Al-Ahly Hospital were affected by the impact. It was clarified that the room was "completely destroyed," which led to the "forced displacement of patients and hospital staff."

At the same time, the IDF said that the Israeli military had warned local residents in advance about the impending strike. Representatives of the Israel Defense Forces called one of the doctors and asked him to evacuate the hospital immediately. The military took 20 minutes to do this.

According to the BBC, Al-Ahly Hospital, which was previously a small medical facility, is now the only hospital that continues to operate in Gaza City.

On April 9, it was reported that an IDF strike on a residential area in the northern Gaza Strip killed about 23 people. According to the Al-Ahly hospital, eight women and eight children were among the dead. It was clarified that the strike fell on a four-story building in the Shujaiya area. The Israeli military said the IDF target was a "high-ranking militant" of the Palestinian Hamas group.
