Law enforcement agencies have opened a criminal case against a 21-year-old resident of Arkhangelsk on suspicion of setting fire to four police cars. On April 13, the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation was informed about this.
It is noted that the case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act).
"According to preliminary data, on April 12, 2025, at about 21 o'clock, the suspect poured flammable liquid over four police cars <...> and set them on fire. As a result of the fire, three cars were seriously damaged," the department's Telegram channel says.
The fire was extinguished by emergency workers. It is specified that there were no casualties. The suspect was detained on the spot by police officers. According to his version, he committed arson under the influence of unidentified persons with whom he had been talking on the phone for a long time.
A check is being conducted on the incident, and its results have been taken under control. The details of the incident are being clarified.
Earlier, on March 5, Marina Yakubenko, co-chairman of the regional headquarters of the All-Russian Popular Front (ONF) movement in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, informed Izvestia about the arson of her car. According to her, this car was the third one that was burned by the attackers.
