Serbia is grateful to Russia and Russian President Vladimir Putin for their respect and non-interference in the internal affairs of the state. This was announced on April 13 by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Vulin.

"I want to thank the government of the Russian Federation and the President of the Russian Federation for never interfering in our internal affairs," he told RIA Novosti.

According to him, Russia has always perceived Serbia as a partner and left the Serbs the right to choose. He clarified that none of the Russian officials had tried to change the composition of the Serbian government.

"I am grateful for the respect you show to the Serbian people and to our right to choose," Vulin said.

During a meeting with Vulin on March 22, Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu noted Belgrade's steadfastness in refusing to join anti-Russian sanctions. He said that Russia values the existing relations with Serbia.

On March 8, Vulin said that the West was using the protests of students and oppositionists in Serbia to further push Belgrade against Moscow. He clarified that the protests taking place in the country are aimed at overthrowing the government and establishing a new government that will impose sanctions against the Russian Federation.
