Spain has proposed using frozen assets of the Russian Federation for the defense of Europe

Spain has called on the European Union (EU) countries to create a special fund for the use of frozen Russian assets in order to organize European defense and support for Ukraine. This was reported on April 12 by Bloomberg, citing the country's economy minister, Carlos Cuerpo.

It is specified that the politician came up with the idea of creating such a temporary instrument for financing large-scale pan-European projects. It is planned that this organization will also be supported by funds from the States of the association.

"We must invest together in defense, which is a truly European public good that benefits our citizens and strengthens our economic security," Cuerpo said.

He added that the EU states are currently searching for additional funds to finance the defense industry due to the lack of money from some member countries of the association.
