It is clarified that the introduction of tariff restrictions "did not go according to the plan" that the US president was developing together with some close officials.

"The price increase is seen as a clear signal that the tariff standoff unleashed by 78-year-old US President Donald Trump against the entire world is not going according to plan: on Wednesday, a financial collapse almost occurred when the US government bond trading markets turned red," the newspaper said.

The publication noted that Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are likely to "be sidelined." At the same time, Navarro may become a "scapegoat" in case of failure of duties.

According to the newspaper, such measures surprised even senior White House politicians.

On April 2, the US President announced large-scale trade measures: base tariffs of 10% are introduced for all products supplied to the United States. For the EU, this figure has been raised to 20%.
