A light-engine aircraft carrying six people crashed in the town of Kopake in New York State. This was announced on April 12 by the press service of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the USA.

"A Mitsubishi MU-2B crashed in a field near Copake, New York <...> With six people on board," the press service said.

The Reuters news agency, citing local police, clarified that at least one person was killed in the crash. The plane was heading towards the airport in the District of Columbia. Specialists are working at the scene, their access to the aircraft is difficult due to snow and the condition of the ground.

"It's in the middle of a field, and it's pretty dirty, so access is difficult," Columbia Deputy Sheriff Jacqueline Salvatore said.

On April 10, CBC News reported that a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in Jersey City. The crash occurred at about 15:15 (22:15 Moscow time). Later, the AP news agency, citing officials, announced six deaths as a result of the disaster. The victims were Agustin Escobar and his family — his wife and three children. The pilot died with them.

US President Donald Trump called the footage of the helicopter crash into the Hudson River terrifying, noting that details of the incident would be released later.
