Trump positively assessed the ongoing negotiations with Iran


US President Donald Trump said after a meeting between his special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi that negotiations on Iran were going well. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on April 12.
"Trump, while on board Air Force One, says that negotiations on Iran are going well," the agency said in a statement.
Earlier in the day, the first round of negotiations between the United States and Iran on lifting sanctions and nuclear issues ended in Oman. During the meeting, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, Stephen Witkoff, exchanged the positions of their governments on these issues in the presence of the Omani Foreign Minister.
At the end of the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of negotiations in a week. Araqchi said that during the second round, Iran will discuss with the United States the framework of possible agreements.
At the same time, Russia's Permanent Representative to the International organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said that the results of the first round of bilateral negotiations between the United States and Iran in Oman were encouraging.
