- NYP learned about the repair of a helicopter that fell into the Hudson River in the fall

The helicopter that fell into the Hudson River in Jersey City was repaired in the fall due to a malfunction in the technical part. This was reported on April 12 by the New York Post newspaper, citing data from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States.
"The Bell206L-4 LongRanger IV helicopter, owned and operated by New York Helicopter, had a mechanical problem with the transmission in September last year," the publication says.
It is specified that the helicopter was assembled in 2004 and at the time of repair it managed to spend more than 12 thousand hours in the air. According to preliminary information, the crash could have occurred precisely because of a malfunction identified in September.
On April 10, CBC News reported that a helicopter crashed into the Hudson River in Jersey City. The crash occurred at about 15:15 (22:15 Moscow time). Later, the AP news agency, citing officials, announced six deaths as a result of the disaster. The victims were Agustin Escobar and his family — his wife and three children. The pilot died with them.
US President Donald Trump called the footage of the helicopter crash into the Hudson River terrifying, noting that details of the incident would be released later.
Aviation lawyer and former helicopter pilot Justin Green suggested on April 11 that the helicopter crash could have been caused by the main rotor, which damaged the tail boom.
