- Vilfand reported on the preservation of snow cover in 80% of the territory of the Russian Federation

Snow is still lying on 80% of the territory of Russia, so at the moment it is too early to talk about the possibility of forest fires in the country. This was announced on April 13 by the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, in an interview with Interfax.
"There is snow on another 80% of the country's territory. Only in the very south of the Urals, in the south of western Siberia, in the Trans-Baikal Territory, in Primorye, in the south of the Amur Region, there is no snow here. And, of course, in the southern half of the European part of the country," Vilfand said.
According to him, a fire can occur due to the human factor, but only in areas where snow has fallen or initially little precipitation has fallen. At the same time, he added that at the moment there are no areas where the risk of high fire danger has been established.
Wilfand noted that inadvertent fires can occur in the southern part of Siberia and the Altai Territory.
Mikhail Leus, a specialist at the Phobos Weather Center, reported on April 12 that light precipitation in the form of wet snow is expected in Moscow on Sunday night, April 13, due to an atmospheric front approaching the capital from the north. According to him, precipitation has already been recorded in some northern regions of the Moscow region.
