A woman in the United States was detained on charges of trafficking in human bones

A resident of Florida in the United States was detained on charges of online sale of human bones in her souvenir shop. This was reported on Saturday, April 12, by the Fox News channel, citing a police statement.
During the investigation, it was established that the accused, 52-year-old Kimberly Shopper, deliberately bought human bones, and then put them up for sale on the Facebook Marketplace online platform (owned by the recognized extremist Meta company, its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation), where her store was registered.
The police received information about illegal business back in December 2023. Then the message he sent contained screenshots of the store's page with ads for the sale of various human remains, the TV channel writes.
Visiting the online company's page, the police found a collarbone, shoulder blade, vertebra, rib and even a partial human skull on it for sale — the most expensive "product" that the Shopper sold for $ 600, the publication notes.
As a result of the forensic examination, it turned out that the skull and its fragment were most likely archaeological finds that could be more than 100 years old. Later, the owner of the store was released on bail of $ 7.5 thousand, but the charges against her were not dropped, the TV channel said.
In August last year, the South China Morning Post (SCPM) newspaper reported that intruders in China had stolen more than 4,000 bodies from crematoriums and medical laboratories for the manufacture of prosthetics. It was clarified that they earned about 380 million yuan (about $ 53 million) from the sale of bone tissue.
