At least eight people were killed when a bus hit a mine in Nigeria.


The driver and at least seven passengers were killed after a bus ran over an improvised explosive device in northeastern Nigeria. This was reported by the Vanguard newspaper on April 12.
It is specified that the fatal incident occurred on the Maiduguri – Damboa–Biu federal road, along which the bus was traveling as part of private and commercial vehicles under the protection of military personnel.
It is assumed that the explosive device was planted by militants of the terrorist group Boko Haram. The incident was also confirmed by the head of the district where the explosion occurred, Lavan Maina. According to him, the bus driver and seven passengers died on the spot, many others received injuries of varying severity and were taken to a local hospital.
He also called on the federal government and law enforcement agencies to redouble their efforts and support Borno State in the fight against Boko Haram terrorists.
The Vanguard newspaper reported on January 18 that more than 50 people were killed in a tanker truck explosion in northern Nigeria. According to him, nearby people began to collect the fuel spilled from the tanker when the explosion occurred.
