Russian ambassador to Vienna names volume of Austrian financial aid to Kiev

The Austrian population does not approve of the excessive financial aid that the republic's government is providing to Ukraine, Russian Ambassador to Vienna Dmitriy Lyubinsky has told Izvestia.

"Over the past three years, Austria has provided financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of about €300 million through various channels. When this is superimposed on the serious consequences of the migration and socio-economic crisis, the recently revealed and ever-growing "hole" in the state budget (already more than €12 billion), which is felt by literally every family, such exorbitant expenditures to the detriment of its own economy cannot and find neither support nor understanding among the population," he added.

The diplomat noted that according to the latest polls, 78% of the country's citizens are in favor of maintaining the country's neutrality with regard to the conflict in Ukraine.
