The media reported 40 violations on the Kiwala tanker detained by Estonia.

Estonia has notified about the alleged detection of about 40 violations on the Kiwala tanker detained in Muuga Bay, which was allegedly heading to Russia. The ERR informed about this on April 12.
"The inspectors of the Department of Transport checked the vessel and recorded a number of serious violations, due to which we cannot allow the tanker to continue moving: neither the safety of navigation nor environmental safety has been ensured," said Christian Truu, Director of the Maritime Service of the Republic's Department of Transport.
According to the transport authorities, 29 of the 40 violations are serious. Most of them were related to documentation, while the rest relate to violations with navigation safety systems, crew preparation for emergency situations and technical problems. It is specified that the tanker cannot continue its journey until all violations are eliminated on it.
On April 11, the Postimees newspaper reported on the detention of the Kiwala tanker. Commander of the Estonian Navy, Commodore Ivo Vark, clarified that the purpose of the detention was to check the documents and legal status of the vessel.
