WhatsApp has malfunctioned

The WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) malfunctioned on April 12. This is evidenced by data from the Downdetector service.

According to user reports, there are problems with sending messages to group chats and downloading media files. Most of the complaints were received from residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Complaints about failures in the messenger began to arrive around 17:00 Moscow time, the peak of requests occurred at 18:15 Moscow time. The total number of complaints about Downdetector exceeded 3.7 thousand per day, of which 1.6 thousand in the last hour.

At the end of February, a global glitch occurred in the WhatsApp messenger, Roskomnadzor reported. It was noted that reports of failures were received from all over the world, including from the USA, Italy and Germany.
