Trump exempted electronics from duties

The administration of US President Donald Trump has exempted smartphones, computers and other electronics from retaliatory duties, potentially mitigating the consequences for consumers. This was announced by Bloomberg on April 12.
Exceptions for gadgets were published on the evening of April 11 by the US Customs and Border Protection Service.
Smartphones, laptop computers, hard drives, computer processors and microchips, as well as equipment for the production of semiconductors, will be exempt from duties. This solution will make it easier for technology companies such as Apple and Samsung, Bloomberg writes.
On April 9, Trump announced the suspension of duties previously imposed on a number of countries for 90 days. He also announced an immediate increase in duties on products from China to 125%. On April 10, this figure reached 145%. In response, Beijing increased duties against the United States to 125%.
On April 2, Trump announced the introduction of 10% base duties on products imported from other countries.
