A suspect in the case of a gas explosion in a house was taken into custody in Makhachkala.

In Makhachkala, the Leninsky District Court ordered the detention of a suspect in fraud during the gasification of an apartment building in which a gas explosion occurred. The joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of Dagestan informed about this on April 12.

"The Leninsky District Court of the city of Makhachkala has considered the request of the investigating authority to choose a preventive measure against a local resident suspected of committing a crime under Part 3 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that the man introduced himself to the developer of the house as an employee of Gazprom Gas Distribution Makhachkala. For a reward, the suspect promised to resolve the issue of obtaining documentation for the technical connection of one of the houses to the gas distribution networks. The developer gave 350 thousand rubles for the provision of this service. Subsequently, the suspect brought him documents that did not meet the requirements of the law.

As a result, the court ordered the arrest of the man for a month and a half. He will be detained until May 24, 2025.

A gas explosion in the apartment of a multi-storey building on Gaptsakhskaya Street in Makhachkala occurred on March 25. As a result, four people were injured, several apartments and cars were also damaged. The mayor's office said that the building where the incident occurred had not been put into operation, so residents should not have been there.

According to Sergei Kasyanov, the chief housing inspector of Dagestan, the gas equipment in the house did not meet the requirements and was not registered. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case on the provision of unsafe services.
