"Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia have organized a check of information posted on social media about the injury of a child as a result of an electric scooter collision," the agency's Teleram channel says.
The publication reported that on Friday, April 11, a 14-year-old teenager was moving along the sidewalk on an electric scooter and hit a nine-year-old boy.
It is specified that the child was provided with the necessary medical care. The investigative authorities are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Dmitry Mitroshin, head of the Russian Interior Ministry's Scientific Center for Road Safety, said on April 1 that the number of people killed in accidents involving electric scooters and other means of individual mobility (SIM) increased by more than 25% last year. Most of the deaths in SIM accidents were recorded in Moscow and the Krasnodar Territory, he said.
