Students of Omsk State Technical University have developed a platform to protect minors and pensioners from fraud. This was reported to Izvestia on April 12 by the press service of the National Technology Initiative platform.

The new service is designed to enhance digital security among the most vulnerable audiences and provide expert advice. With it, users will learn how to protect themselves from such types of digital deception as phishing, phone and online fraud.

The website simultaneously performs information and educational, consulting and educational functions. It also includes recommendations on the use of programs for protection on the Internet (antiviruses, VPNs, etc.), the NTI press service noted.

"The new service provides information on the main types and categories of fraud. Each case is described in detail. Schemes, methods, and categories of deception are presented. Thanks to the analyzed examples from everyday life, the site provides practical recommendations. In addition, it develops soft skills, which are necessary for children and adults to protect themselves from deception," said Nikita Shiryaev, the project leader.

According to him, the platform differs from its analogues in the presence of feedback. So, the service provides consulting support via online chat in real time. A "complaint room" for filing complaints and sharing experiences.

"Children and pensioners will master basic knowledge and learn to recognize false information. They will get access to site verification tools. This will allow them to protect themselves from making wrong decisions in the future," explained the project manager.

The developers plan to create a forum, prepare tests to counter cybercriminals, and develop a project with the participation of leading IT companies. At the moment, a prototype of the platform has been created, which is a test version of the site.

The project participates in the acceleration program of the federal project "Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship (PUTP)", the operator of the acceleration programs of the project is NTI.

A day earlier, Mirza Chiragov, head of digital law at Ligalpix, said that the right to compensation for moral damage for spam calls would give Russians the opportunity to go to court even in the single case of an intrusive call. According to him, the Supreme Court actually recognized the right of citizens to demand compensation for disturbing their peace and intrusive advertising through phone calls.
