Lukashenko questioned Ukraine's accession to the EU

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has questioned Ukraine's accession to the European Union (EU). His words were quoted by BelTA on April 12.
"And so they're doing something that may never happen. Ukraine is unlikely to ever be in the European Union," the head of state said during a conversation with reporters at a clean-up.
Lukashenko called President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky inexperienced. According to the head of Belarus, his colleague must admit this. He also recommended Zelensky to listen to his elders in matters that he does not understand. According to Lukashenko, Ukraine has nothing to do in the EU.
"Before you run there, think about your need to be there. And if you do, what will you be like? It will be a country without industry, without agriculture, without what Ukraine has always been proud of," Lukashenko said.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on March 31 called the EU's attempts to speed up the process of Ukraine's accession to the union a disgrace. According to him, the countries of the Western Balkans have been waiting for accession for 14 years. The Minister also noted that they are much more prepared for this than Ukraine.
