France recognizes the vulnerability of the US position in the Ukrainian conflict

The US position on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is much weaker than that of the Russian side. This opinion was expressed to Stratpol on April 12 by General of the French army, Knight of the Legion of Honor Dominique Delavard.
"[US President] Donald Trump is not in a position of strength in his negotiations with Russia. President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin understands this well, he sees what is happening in the world," he believes.
According to the expert, at the moment, the American leader cannot designate his terms to the Russian Federation unilaterally due to the vulnerability of political influence and the general international crisis. At the same time, Delaware clarified that the United States is not in a position to stand up to Russia or lead the negotiations on Ukraine.
The general expressed the opinion that further cooperation between the states would not be easy, in particular, with the Ukrainian representatives. However, he assured that Putin, as well as his diplomacy and strategy, dominate in the conditions of a "weakening West."
The day before, Reuters learned that Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, told the American leader that recognizing the new regions as part of the Russian Federation would be the fastest way to a cease-fire in Ukraine. At the same time, the meeting between the special envoy and Trump eventually ended without any decisions on changing the American strategy towards Russia.
Witkoff arrived in Russia on the morning of the same day, where he held talks with the Russian president in St. Petersburg.
