Synchronized swimmers from Russia Doroshko and Gaidai won gold at the World Cup in Egypt

Russian synchronized swimmers Maya Doroshko and Tatiana Gaidai won the duet competition in the technical program at the second stage of the World Cup in Egypt. This was announced on April 12 by the press service of the Russian Federation of Water Sports.

The athletes set the most difficult program, and also beat the athletes from Ukraine Daria Moshinskaya and Anastasia Shmonina by 6.44 points. The third place was taken by representatives of Canada Audrey Lamothe and Chimena Ortiz Montano.

In addition, another Russian couple, 18-year-old Anastasia Sidorina and Veronika Sokolova, rounded out the top ten, they will have to present their free program at the tournament.

The second medal of the day of the Russian national team was won by the group, the junior team performed in this type of program. And the oldest in it, Elizabeth Brener and Svetlana Pavlova— are only 17 years old. The group also includes 16-year-olds Anna-Maria Fomicheva, Alexandra Klenina, Elena Shabanova and Alisa Shevchenko, 15-year-olds Lika Chechura and Polina Chibisova.

Earlier, in June last year, synchronized swimmer Svetlana Kolesnichenko brought the Russian national team the first gold medal at the BRICS Games. Following the performance, the 30-year-old athlete scored 313.69 points. The second place was taken by the synchronized swimmer from Belarus Vasilina Khondoshko (296.4750), the third was Diana Onkes (229.9334) from Uzbekistan.
