Every day on the International Space Station (ISS) is a huge burden for astronauts, and in such conditions it is very important to establish a way of life. The cosmonauts told Izvestia about this on April 12.

Hero of Russia, cosmonaut Alexander Lazutkin admitted that the first days in zero gravity can be extremely difficult. According to him, he had a severe headache due to the rush of blood to his head and these were extremely unpleasant sensations. He was able to adapt to the orbital conditions in a week.

Astronauts are allowed to take only a kilogram of personal belongings, including a mobile phone, into orbit from Earth. Besides, they get up at six in the morning. They have breakfast with tube food, freeze-dried food, or special canned goods.

Freeze—dried foods are a powder to which you need to add water and the food is ready. Astronauts have such a diet on their menu that they don't repeat meals for more than two weeks.

Astronauts practice sports twice a day, because in such conditions muscles atrophy and bones become brittle.

"In zero gravity, all the fluid is evenly distributed throughout the body and, for example, the heart does not need to lift the blood from the legs, drive it up to the head, and the heart relaxes. And since it's a muscle, it needs to be trained," explained Hero of Russia, test cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev.

Astronauts sleep in small cabins. A sleeping bag is fixed on the wall, and a fan is turned on instead of a night light. And dirty clothes and garbage are put in a special ship, which will then burn up in the atmosphere.

On the same day, the Russian crew of the ISS, consisting of Roscosmos cosmonauts Alexei Ovchinin, Ivan Wagner and Kirill Peskov, congratulated the citizens of Russia on Cosmonautics Day. Wagner noted that after Yuri Gagarin's space flight, millions of children began to dream of becoming astronauts. He drew attention to the fact that such a trend has persisted in Russia even now.
