- The ambassador to Germany called the security system in Europe without Russia "science fiction."

The dreams of some European countries about forming a European security system without Russia or against Russia are "science fiction." This was stated on April 11 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev in an interview with the Berliner Zeitung newspaper.
"The wishful thinking in some Western European capitals that a good security system can be set up in Europe without Russia or against Russia seems to me like science fiction," Nechaev said.
He added that Russia had never threatened Germany and was not doing so. According to him, both countries had partnership relations, since 6.3 thousand companies operated in Russia. However, "these bridges were not destroyed by the Russian Federation." But despite this, Nechaev noted that there is a growing desire in Germany to re-establish relations with Russia.
In addition, the ambassador said that reports of the German Foreign Ministry's recommendations not to invite Russian representatives to events marking the end of World War II were bitterly disappointing, as it was a "holy day" for the Russian people.
"Traditionally, we honor the memory of our soldiers, prisoners of war and forced laborers in German cemeteries," Nechaev summed up.
On March 3, Paul Vallely, Chairman of the Stand Up U.S. Foundation, announced that Russia should be in a security system that includes the West. According to him, the Russian Federation cannot be taken beyond the framework of such structures. He also mentioned India and other BRICS countries as states with which it is necessary to cooperate.
