The negotiations that took place on Friday, April 11, between the official representatives of the United States and Ukraine on minerals took place in an antagonistic atmosphere. This was reported on April 12 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"Representatives of the United States and Ukraine met on Friday to discuss the U.S. proposal to gain access to Ukraine's mineral resources," a source familiar with the situation said. He added that the prospects for a breakthrough are slim, given the antagonistic atmosphere of the meeting," the article says.

The publication also noted that the reason for the tension in the negotiations was the latest version of the draft agreement, which turned out to be much more extensive than the original one. In particular, the draft stipulates the US requirement that "the International Finance Corporation for the Development of the US government take control of the gas pipeline" through which the Russian company Gazprom supplies natural gas through Ukraine to Europe.

On April 11, The New York Times reported that a Ukrainian delegation had arrived in Washington for a new round of technical negotiations on minerals with the United States. It is noted that this deal will provide the United States with a significant share in Ukraine's natural resources.
