Kobakhidze pointed to the tragic situation of Great Britain

The UK's imposition of a number of sanctions against Georgian Prosecutor General Giorgi Gabitashvili and some other representatives of Georgian law enforcement agencies speaks to the tragic state of affairs in the United Kingdom. This was announced by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on April 11.
"Today, a country that is the bearer of [rich] traditions, without any evidence or facts, uses a measure against people that is correlated with a criminal offense. This, of course, speaks to the tragedy, based on the history that England and Great Britain have gone through so far," he said during a conversation with reporters.
Kobakhidze clarified that Georgia can only express its regret towards Great Britain.
On December 9, 2024, British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced that the country would reduce its support and cooperation with the Georgian government.
Later on December 20 of the same year, Georgian media reported that British Ambassador to Tbilisi Gareth Ward had been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic after the United Kingdom imposed sanctions against Georgian Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri, as well as four other high-ranking officials.
