- Orban announced Kiev's intention to involve Hungary and Slovakia in the conflict with the Russian Federation

Ukraine, in collusion with the European Union (EU), stopped the transit of Russian gas through its territory in order to draw Hungary and Slovakia into a conflict with Russia. This was announced on April 11 by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
According to him, gas supplies to the east of Hungary have practically stopped.
"Earlier this year, Ukrainians colluded with Brussels bureaucrats to block a major European gas pipeline passing through their territory. Thus, they want to put pressure on the Slovaks and on us in order to involve us in the Ukrainian [conflict]," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
On the same day, Orban noted that European countries are ready to continue the Ukrainian conflict and allocate money for it. In addition, he expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian conflict is closely linked to rising inflation in the European region.
On April 10, the European Commission (EC) compared the process of Ukraine's admission to the EU with cooking borscht and suggested that Kiev "cook borscht together." It was explained that this expression symbolizes not only the cooking process, but also the importance of working together on complex tasks.
