The herpetologist told about the first aid at a bite of a viper

Herpetologist Evgeny Rybaltovsky told how to act when bitten by a viper.
In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, April 11, an expert noted that the bite of this snake, which in Russia is considered the most dangerous among those living in the country, can lead to death only if a person has serious heart problems or allergies.
"The probability of death from a viper bite is considered 1 in 10 thousand," the expert said.
If the bite occurred, Rybaltovsky called for the venom to be sucked out. He explained that the venom of the viper is not absorbed through the mucous membrane, basically, it is destroyed instantly.
"And if you put a bitten finger in your mouth right away, you can suck out about 30% of the poison. In no case should any tourniquets be applied, in no case should wounds be opened, because oxidation begins to occur," the herpetologist emphasized.
The victim of the bite should be provided with plenty of water, move as little as possible and seek medical help. When camping, the expert called for taking antihistamines with you. In the case of a viper bite, such remedies will help eliminate an allergic reaction. The expert clarified that in the case of a tropical snake bite, the venom cannot be sucked out. Such reptiles do not live in the natural conditions of Russia.
On April 2, expert Denis Kovalev named the main mistakes when meeting a snake. First of all, you can't touch her, even if she looks dead.
In March, doctor Alexander Umnov warned about possible tissue necrosis after a viper bite. According to him, the venom of the viper destroys red blood cells, affects the heart muscle and liver cells. The victim must be placed horizontally, ensure the immobility of the arm or leg, remove all compressive forces from the limb, notes 360.ru .
Also in March, experts warned that with the onset of spring in the Moscow region, snakes are beginning to awaken from hibernation. Most often, reptiles settle near reservoirs, swamps, in dense grass, under stones or logs, as well as in abandoned buildings, the Moscow City News agency reports.
Last summer, serpentologist Vladimir Cherlin called for "not helping" snakes on the street. In a conversation with NSN, he noted that the viper will get to the place it needs without outside help. Even if the animal is in mortal danger, for example, on the road, it is still not worth touching it because of the possible sad consequences.
