Omsk Hockey club (HC) Avangard defeated Yaroslavl HC Lokomotiv in the first match of the Gagarin Cup quarterfinal series (Fonbet – Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) playoffs). The meeting took place on April 11 in Yaroslavl and ended with a score 4:1 (1:0, 1:1, 2:0).

Forwards Reed Boucher (1st minute), Michael MacLeod (28th), Nail Yakupov (49th) and Ryan Spooner (55th) scored the goal for the Omsk Avangard winners. The opposing team's result was shown by striker Byron Fraz (40).

The second match of the series is scheduled for April 13 in Yaroslavl.
