The West transfers old F-16 fighter jets to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), but does not supply the necessary number of spare parts. This was announced on April 11 by the president of the Ukrainian Aviation Association of Pilots, Gennady Khazan, to the Ukrainian TV channel Novosti.Live».

"Ukraine is being given the F-16 of the 80s and is not being supplied with the necessary number of spare parts," Khazan said, his words are quoted in the Telegram channel.

He also noted that due to the current situation, it is necessary to disassemble defective aircraft for spare parts - in fact, to engage in "aviation cannibalism."

In addition, two of the F-16 fighters transferred to Ukraine are not intended for flights at all and are used as donors. The rest of the planes are also far from new. According to the expert, upgrading one F-16 to a modern level costs more than $200 million, while upgrading the MiG-29 costs $30-35 million.

On this day, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expressed surprise at the information that the Bundeswehr weapons sent to Ukraine have a number of serious drawbacks.

On February 28, Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexandra Ustinova reported that two thirds of the military equipment that Kiev receives from partners turns out to be unusable. She stressed that the equipment provided by the American and European armies is often in poor condition.
