There is no need to completely block YouTube in Russia yet. Andrey Svintsov, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, expressed this opinion on Friday, April 11.

"Personally, I do not consider this necessary, because most of our citizens have it working intermittently, but there are those who, let's say, use YouTube mainly for some educational purposes: to watch a video about how to bake a cake, repair a car," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru.

At the same time, the parliamentarian stressed that there are a huge number of platforms in Russia that are already successfully replacing YouTube.

Earlier, on March 19, Izvestia wrote that the average daily audience of the YouTube video hosting service has almost halved since its slowdown — by 23 million people in seven months, and the monthly average by 14 million.
