The court ordered the owners of the Admiral Kolchak motor ship to raise it from the bottom of the Laptev Sea and compensate for the damage caused to the water body, amounting to more than 25 million rubles. This is reported by the West Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office.

The tugboat Admiral Kolchak sank in October 2020 near Cape Chelyuskin in the Laptev Sea. The owners have not taken any measures to raise the vessel from the bottom so far.

The Norilsk Transport Prosecutor's Office (Krasnoyarsk Territory) conducted an audit of the implementation of legislation on the safety of the operation of marine vessels and environmental legislation, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency. The prosecutor appealed to the court with a statement of claim.

The case was considered by the Lomonosovsky District Court of Arkhangelsk, which decided to satisfy the prosecutor's claim. The owners are obliged to raise the sunken vessel and compensate for the damage caused to the water body.

In February, it was reported that the Irkutsk Region had completed the process of lifting the vessel from the bottom of the Angara River. It sank 30 years ago and caused serious damage to the environment.
