In the first quarter of 2025, the top 5 most in-demand planting materials include seeds of cucumbers, petunias and lobelia, as well as seedlings of roses and peonies. This follows from the data of the Leman PRO company, which was reviewed by Izvestia.

Monokalium phosphate, carbamide, epin and azofoska are the leaders among fertilizers. Compared to last year, in March 2025, there was an increase in demand for fertilizers for vegetable crops (+17.8%), universal soils (+12.9%) and onions (+12.5%).

"The factors of demand growth include the warm winter, which accelerated the start of the planting season this year: many began to grow seedlings earlier than usual. We are also seeing a trend towards "urban gardening" — more and more residents of megacities are growing herbs and vegetables on windowsills and balconies, and there is a growing interest in organic products. By the end of 2025, we expect an increase in demand for seedling products by an average of 5%," said Oksana Blagaya, head of the Leman PRO Garden category.

Experts added that the specifics of demand are formed depending on the region. In the Central Federal District, seeds, soils and fertilizers are most popular, in the Far East — soils, cultivators and wheelbarrows, and in the South — fruit seedlings, annual flowers, lawn and lawn fertilizers. Regional differences are related to climatic features and the timing of the start of the season: they have a significant impact on the average budget for preparing the garden for the new season.
