The May holidays are not the most profitable time for a vacation. However, proper planning will significantly increase the rest period. Avito Work specialists told Izvestia about this on April 12.

The May holidays will last a total of eight days. The first block of the weekend — from 1 to 4 May — is associated with the celebration of Spring and Labor Day, the second — from 8 to 11 May — is dedicated to Victory Day. Such a long rest period was made possible by postponing the weekend: Saturday, January 4, was moved to Friday, May 2, and Sunday, February 23, to Thursday, May 8. In addition, on April 30, the working day will be shortened by one hour.

Experts note that May is not the most profitable month for a long vacation: out of 31 calendar days, 13 are non—working days, and 18 are labor days. For comparison, there are five more working days in August and October. However, proper planning will significantly increase the rest period. So, by taking just three days off from May 5 to May 7, you can extend the holiday weekend to 11 days. An alternative option is to take a vacation from April 28 to April 30, which will give you nine days of uninterrupted rest. At the same time, the April option turns out to be financially more profitable, since this month there are 22 working days compared to 18 in May.

Analysts noted that it is important to remember that in order to apply for a vacation, it is necessary to notify the employer no later than two weeks before it begins. If the vacation was included in the approved schedule in advance, the employer has no right to refuse, except in cases where this may disrupt the production process. If there is no vacation in the schedule, the decision remains at the discretion of the management, so it is better to resolve the issue in advance.

In addition, a three-day vacation in April or May can be arranged without using the main vacation days. To do this, it is enough to accumulate time off for overtime or weekend work. According to labor legislation, one day off or holiday earned entitles you to a full day of rest, and every two hours of processing on a standard schedule — at least two hours of additional rest.

Increased pay is provided for those who prefer to work during the holidays. Work on non-working days is paid at least twice in any payroll system. At the same time, the employer is obliged to maintain the employee's regular salary and additionally pay holiday allowances. For example, by working two additional days in each of the holiday blocks, an employee can earn an income equivalent to eight regular working days.

Earlier, on March 31, OneTwoTrip, a travel planning service, named Izvestia the most expensive hotel bookings that travelers made in the first month of spring. Experts shared that a record amount of money was spent on vacations in March by a company of four travelers who spent 10 days in a five-star hotel in Dubai. They paid 2,050,000 rubles.
