The administration of US President Donald Trump has decided to reduce the US Armed Forces as a whole. Malek Dudakov, an American political scientist, reported this on Friday, April 11, explaining the politician's desire to withdraw troops from European countries.

The expert clarified that currently the number of the American army is 450 thousand people, and they plan to reduce it to 360 thousand. According to Dudakov, those parts that are located in Europe will fall under the reduction, as this area is not a priority for Trump and his administration.

"We see how he demands that the Europeans spend more money on their own defense. At the same time, these very troops can not only be reduced, but also withdrawn to other areas that Trump sees as more priority. In particular, this is the Indo-Pacific region — competition with China, the Middle East and the southern border of the United States, where Trump planned to organize a large operation against drug cartels," the American expert said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

He clarified that the withdrawal of American troops from Europe will take place only after it is possible to negotiate with Russia on de-escalation in the Ukrainian direction.

"Trump will not withdraw everyone from Europe, but Trump may well withdraw, for example, those who were brought up under Biden," the American expert said.

Earlier, on April 10, Trump announced that he would allow the United States to reduce the number of its armed forces in Europe, RT reports.

He added that the decision on this issue will depend on certain circumstances, according to the website. kp.ru .

On April 9, Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth said that the American side had not yet developed a plan for a further US military presence in Europe. 360.ru .

He noted that discussions will continue, including in the context of negotiations with Ukraine and Russia, on what should be the alignment of American forces on the continent.

Bloomberg reported on March 6 that the armies of the European Union (EU) countries could hold out for several weeks at best without the help of the United States due to a shortage of troops, air defense systems and ammunition.

According to the newspaper, a complete withdrawal of American troops from European countries is unlikely, but a reduction in the presence of the United States will significantly affect the continent's defense capability.
