Germany's increased arms supplies to Ukraine could be an explosive decision, so U.S. efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict should be supported. This was announced on April 11 by Alice Weidel, chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

This is how she commented on the statement by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, who announced an increase in supplies to the Ukrainian side.

"Pistorius announces new arms supplies to Ukraine. <...> It's explosive. We must support the efforts of the United States to achieve a ceasefire," she wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Earlier in the day, Pistorius announced that Berlin would increase military aid supplies to Kiev in the coming years. He said that Germany plans to provide Ukraine with additional IRIS-T air defense systems and more than 1.1 thousand ground surveillance radar systems.

Prior to that, on April 1, German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock said that the country would provide Ukraine with more than €11 billion in military aid up to and including 2029.

On March 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov drew attention to the fact that European countries do not want the conflict in Ukraine to end and demand "the continuation of the banquet."
