- The Central Bank dispelled the myth of introducing a limit on withdrawals of 50 thousand rubles per day

The emerging data that from September 1 in Russia the limit on cash withdrawals from ATMs will work, when the amount will be limited to 50 thousand rubles, is another myth. On April 11, the Central Bank of Russia provided explanations on this issue.
Experts noted that on April 1, a law was passed that obliges banks to carry out anti-fraud measures when issuing cash through ATMs. According to him, credit institutions will have to make sure that the client does not withdraw his money on the instructions of fraudsters, the Newspaper writes.Ru». The operation will be performed according to the approved list of signs.
"If the bank finds such signs, it will have to limit the issuance of cash for 48 hours to no more than 50 thousand rubles per day, and also immediately notify the client of the reasons for the restriction," the Telegram channel of the Central Bank of Russia says.
Also, according to the law, banks must limit the issuance of cash through ATMs to no more than 100,000 rubles per month for people whose data is already in the database of the Central Bank of Russia on fraudulent transactions.
On March 5, Kaspersky Lab's chief expert, Sergey Golovanov, told Izvestia that fraudulent schemes have significantly increased in popularity this year, in which attackers using social engineering force Russians to transfer cash to couriers. The number of such cases in 2025 has doubled compared to the beginning of last year.
After that, on March 7, the Central Bank of Russia also announced the extension of restrictions on foreign currency cash withdrawals until September 9 of this year. It was noted that the restrictions were maintained due to the current anti-Russian sanctions prohibiting domestic financial institutions from buying foreign currency in cash.
