In Transbaikalia, 12 forest fires were eliminated in a day.


Over the past day, 12 forest fires were extinguished in six districts of the Trans-Baikal Territory on a total area of 3.8 thousand hectares. This was announced on April 11 by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the region.
"196 forest firefighters using 39 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire," the agency's website says.
In addition, four more forest fires were localized, 119 forest firefighters with the use of 19 pieces of equipment continue to fight the fire. The fires were caused by careless handling of fire by the local population.
In Transbaikalia, 17 forest fires continue to operate in four districts. It is reported that the total area covered by the fire was more than 25 thousand hectares. 538 forest firefighters using 77 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.
The ministry clarified that 135 forest fires have been recorded in the region since the beginning of the fire season.
Earlier that day, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 36 people responsible for forest and landscape fires had been identified in the Trans-Baikal Territory since the beginning of the year. Because of their actions, deadwood burned 27 times and nine forest fires occurred.
On April 9, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that more than 50 natural and man-made fires had been extinguished in Transbaikalia in a day, and 43 forest fires were still being extinguished in gale-force conditions. The ministry said that more than 900 people and 170 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire.
