Traffic cameras will start recording drivers with phones in Sevastopol

The Sevastopol State Traffic Inspectorate is preparing to turn on a system for tracking violations by drivers of the rules for using a mobile phone on traffic cameras. This was announced on April 11 by the press service of the department.
Thus, the driver's use of a smartphone while driving will begin to be recorded in all three cities of federal significance in Russia. This system is already in effect in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The traffic police noted that talking on a mobile phone leads to the driver losing concentration and control over the traffic situation. Distraction can trigger a traffic violation, which in turn can lead to an accident.
"The most critical situations are when drivers of vehicles write messages while driving. In this case, the driver can either make deliberately dangerous maneuvers himself, or unknowingly disorient other road users who are confident that the moving driver is driving ahead or to the side, observing traffic regulations," the department said.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recalled that a fine of 1.5 thousand rubles is threatened for a driver using a phone while driving (without devices that do not allow him to hold the phone in his hands).
On March 4, it was reported that Vladislav Davankov, Vice Speaker of the State Duma from the New People faction, sent a proposal to ban tripod cameras on Russian highways to Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev.
Deptrans reported on February 28 that data center cameras began recording violations of the removal of construction debris. According to Maxim Liksutov, Moscow's Deputy Mayor for Transport, now road complexes can detect 65 types of violations.
