As part of the development of the defense system in Belarus, fortified areas are being created. This was announced on April 11 by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, First Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic, Major General Pavel Muraveyko, during a visit to the Vitebsk region, where a command and staff exercise with the territorial troops of the Postavsky district is taking place.

"We have created such fortified areas in virtually all regions, and all units of the territorial troops that will be deployed according to our plan will be involved in their defense," he was quoted as saying on the Telegram channel of the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.

Muraveyko clarified that as such fortified areas are being created, Belarus is practicing modern actions. According to him, both military personnel serving in the Armed Forces, as well as units of the territorial troops and the people's militia are working in these areas. He stressed that these complex things should teach the citizens of the republic to protect the country.

The Major General stressed that the task of Belarus is to ensure peace and protect its land.
