Over the past day, 197 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 22 people were killed and 235 injured. 16 of the dead were passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on April 11 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 64 accidents, 25 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 39 outside their area of operation, six pedestrians were killed, and another 60 were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 17 child pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured at pedestrian crossings.

19 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which one person was killed, and 22 more road users, including four children, required medical attention. The reason for 12 bus accidents was traffic violations by drivers of other vehicles.

On Thursday, 37 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 36 young road users were injured, including 17 child passengers and two motor transport drivers under the age of 16. One child passenger was killed.

So, in the Republic of Dagestan, in the evening, on 24 km of the Novo-Gaptsakh — Tagirkent—Yalama regional highway, a 30-year—old car driver lost control on a slippery road during the rain - the car left it and crashed into a tree. As a result of the accident, two passengers, including a six-month-old girl, who was in her mother's arms in the back row of seats at the time of the accident, died. The motorist himself was hospitalized with injuries.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of drivers to the need for strict compliance with traffic regulations during the off-season. An increase in air temperature and its differences between daytime and nighttime values increase the risk of accidents on the roads due to melting ice, precipitation in the form of rain or sleet, as well as the resulting visibility restrictions. Motorists should be more careful, avoid dangerous maneuvers, slow down, and increase the interval and distance between vehicles.

Compliance with driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in the car, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements, the department stressed.

"We remind you that transportation of children under the age of 7 years should only be carried out using child restraints. Between the ages of 7 and 12, transportation is possible using child restraints or seat belts, and in the front seat of a passenger car — only in child restraints. Take care of the children, do not allow even the prerequisites for a possible tragedy on your part. Always remember that the lives and health of young road users depend entirely on you, the adults," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

On April 9, it was reported that in the first three months of 2025, 24 thousand road accidents occurred in Russia, which is 1.9% more than in the same period last year. As a result of these accidents, 2.6 thousand people died (-0.8%), 30.6 thousand were injured (+1.4%).
