The Central Asian countries, which were advised by the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, to "endure" sanctions against Russia, just need to "endure" Kallas herself, while she holds the post of head of European diplomacy and supports a tough sanctions policy to the detriment not only of other states, but also of the European Union (EU) itself. This was announced on April 11 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"I would advise them to put up with Kaya Callas in this position. It will probably be much easier than suffering damage to your own people. I don't understand these politicians at all. But the funny thing is that she didn't say that both the Estonian and other EU member nations have to endure," the minister said after a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Alma Ata.

He noted that the losses for the EU itself are much more significant than the consequences of their sanctions policy, which are felt by the countries of Central Asia and other neighbors of Russia in the CIS. At the same time, Kallas' statements are similar to the position of German Prime Minister Annalena Burbock, who advises Germans to "endure all hardships for the sake of defeating Russia," Lavrov added.

"The fact that they are not thinking about their voters, but about how to force other countries to 'tolerate' only to punish Russia, clearly shows how low the European Union has fallen and degraded," the Russian Foreign Minister added.

On April 4, the Italian portal L'antidiplomatico stated that Callas' radical and anti-Russian statements are a symbol of the EU's double standards. According to journalists, Kallas and other European officials do not want to admit that anti-Russian sanctions are causing serious damage to the EU economy, and the rejection of Russian gas has made Europe dependent on the United States.

On April 2, French politician Florian Philippot called Callas a recognized nonentity and accused him of seeking to start a war with Russia. According to Philippot, Callas' anti-Russian policy not only leads to a possible conflict, but also costs the European Union a lot of money.
