Cosmonauts talked about myths in popular films about space

On April 11, the social network VKontakte and VK Video, together with Roscosmos, presented the Mythbusters project, in which Roscosmos cosmonauts Denis Matveev and Konstantin Borisov discussed scenes from famous films about space and debunked some myths.
Artists Azamat Musagaliev, Dmitry Chebotarev and Valerie Zoidova also took part in the project.
"Basic mistakes in cinema ― this is a violation of the laws of physics and an exaggeration of how systems work. Most often you see a screen in the movie where the inscriptions "Start", "Stop", "Let's fly", some strange graphics are lit. In reality, everything is not like that," said cosmonaut Borisov.
Nevertheless, the cosmonauts expressed their understanding of fiction in the movies. Matveev noted that if everything was filmed exclusively documentarily, it would be boring, so it takes a little imagination to create interesting content.
In addition, Roscosmos cosmonaut Ivan Wagner joined the project, who spoke directly from the International Space Station (ISS) about which movie inspired him to choose a profession, and which film he considers the most authentic.
"The theme of space has always attracted attention in movies. Especially in recent years: many large-scale and acclaimed films about space have been released at the Russian box office. We decided to unite the two worlds by organizing a meeting of the film industry and the real cosmos to find out how everything really happens," said Dmitry Lushnikov, PR director of VKontakte and moderator of the meeting.
In Russia and around the world, on April 12, the greatest achievement of science of the 20th century is celebrated by celebrating Cosmonautics Day. On this day, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin went into space on the Vostok satellite spacecraft. The flight lasted 108 minutes, during which the ship flew around the planet and successfully landed at the designated location — near the village of Smelovka in the Saratov region.
