Lazarini called the Palestinian state the only alternative to UNRWA

Philippe Lazarini, Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), said on April 11 that the only alternative to the agency's activities was the creation of a full-fledged Palestinian state.

"The only alternative for us, our agency, is a fully functioning Palestinian state," Lazarini told TASS at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum.

The head of UNRWA stressed that a solution to the Palestinian issue is necessary to end violence and achieve stability in the region. He also noted that the cycle of tragedies in the Middle East will continue until this issue is resolved, and expressed confidence that "sooner or later the situation will change."
