Two Ukrainian Armed Forces militants who blocked Sudzha received up to 16 years in prison.

The Second Western District Military Court has sentenced two militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), Pyotr Yeremey and Vitaly Matsegora, who prevented the evacuation of civilians in Sudzha, Kursk region. This was announced on April 11 by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation.

It is specified that the court sentenced Yeremey to 15 years in prison, and Matsegora to 16 years. Both will serve their sentences for the first 3 years in prison, the rest in a high—security penal colony.

"The court found that on the morning of August 23, 2024, Yeremeyev <...> illegally entered the territory of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region as part of a unit in a Hummer armored car," the Prosecutor General's Office said in a statement on its website.

According to the agency, Yeremey was detained on the same day by Russian military personnel.

Matsegora, in turn, invaded the territory of the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region on September 25, 2024 in a civilian car, a week later his "terrorist activities" were stopped, he was detained by Russian military personnel.

Both fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were found guilty under Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("The commission by a group of persons by prior agreement of a terrorist act, which entailed the onset of grave consequences").

Earlier, on April 8, the court sentenced three riflemen of the armed formations of Ukraine (VFU) to terms from 16 to 17 years in prison for terrorist attacks in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrainian militants who entered the region as part of groups in civilian pickups.
