A funeral services businessman is suspected of bribing three police officers.


In Moscow, a businessman from the funeral services industry was detained, suspected of paying bribes to three police officers for providing him with information about deceased people in the territory served by the entrepreneur's organization. This was reported on April 11 in the Main Investigation Department (GSU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia in the Moscow region.
"According to the investigation, three officials of one of the Moscow city police departments received bribes in the form of money through an intermediary and personally from the suspect, who is engaged in business activities in the field of funeral arrangements, for providing information about deceased persons in their service area," the department's Telegram channel said.
It is specified that during the search of the defendant's house, funds in the amount of at least 20 million rubles, two cars and six wristwatches worth more than 40 million rubles were seized. As indicated in the regional Investigative Committee, the investigation is deciding on the seizure of property.
A criminal case has been opened against the businessman under paragraph "a" of Part 4 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Bribery"). In addition, three employees from Moscow police departments were detained. They have been charged and preventive measures have been chosen.
Earlier, on April 9, the head of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) of Russia for the Republic of Bashkortostan was detained on charges of abuse of office. Investigators with operatives of the FSB directorate, with the assistance of the FSIN Internal Security Directorate, revealed the fact of illegal enrichment.
