Russia has proposed to the United States to exclude Aeroflot from the sanctions list for the further resumption of flights between the countries. This was announced on April 11 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"We made such an offer at the aforementioned meeting in Riyadh more than a month ago, and the Americans accepted it. So far, we have not seen any retaliatory step," he said at a press conference following a meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers in Alma Ata.

He clarified that the Russian side recalled this proposal at a meeting in Istanbul on April 10. Lavrov added that "there may have been some progress," but he himself has not yet had the opportunity to find out the details.

The Russian Foreign Minister clarified that the parties will work on this issue, as it is a "return to normality."

Artur Muradian, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), in an interview with Izvestia on April 11, announced the need to lift sanctions in order to resume direct flights between the United States and Russia. It was clarified that, in particular, this applies specifically to "aviation" restrictions, which prohibit the maintenance of Western passenger aircraft in the Russian Federation and the supply of aircraft parts.
