- The media reported on the intention of EU leaders to visit Beijing at the end of July.

The leaders of the European Union (EU) are planning a trip to Beijing at the end of July. This was reported on April 11 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) newspaper.
It is clarified that the main issue for discussion with Chinese President Xi Jinping will be the duties imposed by US President Donald Trump.
"Due to Xi Jinping's unwillingness to visit Brussels, according to [sources], the president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, and the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, have accepted that they need to go to Beijing if they want to talk personally with the Chinese leader," the publication says.
According to the newspaper, at the moment China has not published an official confirmation of the date of the visit of the European leaders.
On April 10, CNBC reported that Trump had increased tariffs on goods from China to 145%. In turn, US Vice President Jay Dee Vance said that the American leader wants peace, but also wants fair trade and "greater self-sufficiency for the American economy."
In turn, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on the same day that there were no winners in the trade war over tariffs. He also noted that if the United States insists on unleashing a war with duties and a trade war, then China will go to the end.
