The Russian Foreign Ministry called the conditions for direct negotiations with Kiev

Russia is open to discussing proposals for resolving the conflict with Ukraine, taking into account current realities. This was announced on April 11 by Alexey Polishchuk, Director of the Second CIS Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
At the same time, he stressed that the actions of the Ukrainian authorities demonstrate the opposite.
The diplomat also recalled that Ukraine had stopped direct negotiations with Russia, which took place from the end of February to mid-April 2022. He noted that in September of the same year, a decree was issued by Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky banning negotiations with the Russian leadership, which remains in force to this day.
In addition, Polishchuk drew attention to the fact that Russia and Ukraine are conducting musical correspondence through embassies in Belarus. He clarified that the discussion is on legal and consular issues.
"We are grateful to Minsk for maintaining this communication channel," Polishchuk said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
On March 22, Stephen Witkoff, the US President's special envoy for the Middle East, said that the international status of the new regions of the Russian Federation remains the leading issue in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. According to him, the American side is conducting "positive" negotiations with Russia. He also called the problem of recognizing the new territories of the Russian Federation international.
