Georgescu pointed to the lack of democracy in Romania

There is no democracy in Romania, it was destroyed by "foreign intervention". This was stated on April 10 in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson by former Romanian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu.
The politician also noted that the Romanian political system is 100% controlled from abroad, and "the president of the country is French President Emmanuel Macron."
At the same time, the former candidate for the post of leader of Romania directly accused former US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken of interfering in the internal affairs of the country because of his influence on the election results in the republic.
Georgescu also said that foreign forces want to unleash a third world war on the territory of the country. The reason may be the long border with Ukraine and Romania's strategic importance to Macron.
"In this situation, of course, they can involve the whole of Europe in it, as well as the United States. So they have interests. They are interested in war," he added.
On March 9, the Central Election Commission of Romania refused to register Georgescu as a candidate, deciding that the documents submitted by him did not comply with the requirements of the law. This decision sparked protests in Bucharest, which escalated into clashes with the police.
The first round of the Romanian presidential election was held on November 24, 2024. According to official sources, Georgescu was in the lead with 22.94% of the vote, but on November 28, the country's Constitutional Court demanded that the Central Election Commission recount the results. They were cancelled on December 6. Repeat elections will be held in Romania on May 4, 2025. The second round is scheduled for May 18.
