Russian wrestlers returned to Russia after winning the European Championship


Russian wrestlers returned to Russia on April 11 after winning the European Championship. The competition was held in Bratislava, Russian athletes and sportswomen competed in a neutral status.
The wrestlers were greeted with loud applause at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport.
Athletes from the Russian Federation won eight medals: five gold, two silver and one bronze. They dedicated each of their victories to three-time Olympic champion Buvaysar Saitiev, who passed away in March. The athletes wore T-shirts with his image at the award ceremony.
Russian freestyle wrestler Zaur Uguev won the 61 kg weight class at the European Championships in Bratislava on April 9. In the fight for the championship, the 30-year-old Russian defeated the Armenian athlete Arsen Harutyunyan. A day earlier, wrestlers Akhmed Usmanov, Nachyn Mongush and Ibrahim Ibrahimov won the European Championship.
